2010-2011 SeasonSongs of the WorldFrom September 2010 to June 2011, under the theme, Songs of the World the André-Turp Musical Society (SMAT) invites you to come and discover a series of highly diversified artistic, educational and recreational activities and series. Indeed the Artistic direction proposes a voyage of discovery into a multitude of programs from the four corners of the earth. From concerts featuring thematic programs of works from an artist’s native land, most notably Scandinavia and the United States, this new season also brings together programs featuring works in German, French and Italian.The André-Turp Musical Society (SMAT) distinguishes itself from other musical promoters by having over 300 members (music lovers, students and interpreters) who adhere to the Society's vocal arts mandate, participate in its activities and in so doing assist in its development. The annual membership offers a multitude of advantages: Membership advantages: • support of an organization promoting vocal music Through its educational activities, the SMAT has, over the years, succeeded in bringing together music lovers, students and music professionals to form one of the foremost musical societies in Montreal. The SMAT organizes a series of cultural, educational and recreational activities (screening of operas, Brunchs and Amicales de la phonothèque and other events) which are presented the Café d'art vocal. Become a member of the André-Turp Musical Society before September First, 2010 and receive free, a book featuring the complete Wilelm Müller text (in three languages) for Franz Schubert's celebrated song-cycle Winterreise (which is to be presented during the season).
